JR Break Ground at Former Derelict Pub, Amochrie Road, Paisley

The JR Group are delighted to have commenced work on 36 new build flats on the site of a former pub in Paisley.

The construction project, delivered in partnership with Link Group, will provide much-needed housing at the location of the old Stanley Firs pub in Amochrie Road, Paisley.

The once-popular Foxbar pub closed its doors without warning in March 2007 and lay empty for a number of years prior to being demolished.

Paisley-based The JR Group stepped in after seeing the negative impact that the unused building was having on the local area.

The Construction firm purchased the site from Eadie Cairns Ltd and are now beginning work to develop a 36 unit scheme which will consist of three three-storey blocks of 12 flats.

Locals are delighted to see the site of the former pub – which was dilapidated and daubed with graffiti – redeveloped and soon to be transformed into high-quality, affordable housing.

Those living nearby had previously complained that the site had become an eyesore and a magnet for anti-social behaviour.

As part of their overall approach, JR Group are committed to bringing added value and benefits to the communities that they work in.

JR Group Director, John Horne, said that the company are thrilled to have now broken ground at the site.

He said: “Given the fact The JR Group are Paisley-based and the negative impact the derelict pub had on the area, we are delighted to be bringing much needed housing to Amochrie Road.”
