Affordable Housing is Bridging the Gap in South Lanarkshire

Prominent Scottish construction firm, The JR Group, has completed a substantial affordable housing development at Bridge Street in Cambuslang – which has been handed over to partners, Link Group.

The 86-home development, which has been designed to provide vital rental properties, is made up of 10 apartment blocks featuring one- and two-bedroom flats, as well as a selection of two- and three-bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses, including eight wheelchair exemplar properties.

With easy commuting in mind, 125 parking spaces have also been created, whilst a children’s play park with adult seating area is a strong addition, bringing an inclusive, community feel to the area.

Delivery of the project demonstrates a huge milestone, as the substantial project took place in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw the team overcome unexpected challenges to finalise the much-needed development on the outskirts of Glasgow.

Andrew Dallas, Project Director for The JR Group, said: “We are excited for the residents of Bridge Street to move in and create new memories now the development has been completed. Our team has done a fantastic job throughout the last 18 months, handling everything professionally and quickly without affecting the integrity of the project.

“We are thrilled to have once again worked alongside Link Group to facilitate more high quality, affordable housing within Cambuslang and we look forward to continuing to work together in future.”

Colin Culross, Link Group Commercial Director, said: “Working with our partners, we overcame the challenges of Covid-19 restrictions to complete this development and are delighted to see the difference these modern, affordable homes are already making to people’s lives.”

Bridge Street builds on Link’s ambitious plan to deliver 3,381 affordable, high-quality homes over the next five years.

The JR Group employs around 200 staff and was founded in Govan in 1995. It started as a scaffolding business and is now one of the largest building and construction firms in Scotland.  The business operates throughout Scotland and Northern England working on behalf of a number of the UK’s leading housebuilders, registered social landlords and private clients.
