Erskine Laundry Room, Erskine

Constructing safely in a live care home environment

Works involved a new single-storey building and laundry facilities for the purpose built care home which provides nursing and dementia care, for 180 residents, on a 24-hour basis.

With the residents care our main priority, we implemented our collaborative and flexible approach to minimise disruption to both the residents and visitors. This included strict security measures, flexible working hours and proactive noise reduction measures.

Controlling access and egress to the site and trafficked routes required stringent management to ensure non-entry by non-authorised personnel and maintain security and safety for all residents. Secure perimeter hoarding was put in place with clearly marked access / egress points for vehicles and pedestrians. All access and egress points were controlled by our site management and strict signing in procedure implemented.

A site logistics plan was developed detailing agreed access and egress routes, contractor parking and deliveries, storage areas, welfare facilities, no go areas, fire escape routes and assembly points. The logistics plan is regularly reviewed and updated as works progress.
